Just some bits I need to get down before I turn in and lose them. I'll organize my thoughts when I'm more awake.
Lead Trio: Claire Hoffman (The Nutcracker,) Desire Bellerose (The Sleeping Beauty,) Ella Fioretta (Cinderella)
Claire: Clara/Marie, fetch/stock, basically a living doll made of wood. Wants more than anything to 'be a real person,' has to learn that she's been 'real' all along.
Desire: Princess Aurora + Prince Florimund. Does not appreciate being a pawn in fairy politics. Also the changeling Claire replaced.
Ella: Cinderella, basically the title character if she snuck into the ball to steal shit rather than just have a nice night off.
Villains: Carabosse di Rosa, Vasily/the Rat King
Carabosse is a GLORIOUSLY petty bitch who's everything wrong in Des and Sylvain's life right now, Vasily is kinda... Useless and stuck as a rat for who knows how long.
Grey Area: Sylvain le Fee
Sylvain: the Lilac Fairy. Des' present love interest, eventually joins the trio but only for Des' sake. Self-destructive in his over-protectiveness and... KINDA possessive. Basically, fairies are dicks.
Support: Friedrich Drosselmeyer, Madame Gigogne
Main conflict is Claire's desire to be real, but there is the minor conflict of Des wanting to lift his curse (sleep of death until True Love's First Kiss, blah blah blah.) Claire bargains with Vasily to lift the curse keeping him a rat in exchange for a wish or some fairy tale shit. Requires help from a thief (Ella) and Des somehow gets involved. Work this out when more awake.
Also Claire's situation is a nod to Princess Tutu? Natural form = wooden doll, magical girl/secret identity = 'real' girl
Story is based mostly around The Nutcracker and The Sleeping Beauty with Cinderella and La Sylphide on the side. NO LOVE TRIANGLE, poly relationship between the main three with a begrudging Sylvain accepting that Des genuinely loves more than just him and remaining faithful because courtly love. Hell, Claire and Ella are more skeevy about it at first because human standards vs. fairy standards and all that. Also Claire starts crushing on Ella before she starts crushing on Des.

Nuzlocke: Update
Fuckit, I'm gonna use both the Nuzlite and Gift Run rule set. I'll be using the Gift Run rules only for the X and Yellow runs, however, since I specifically made the set for the former in the first place (though I will modify the rules for Yellow so that retiring is a necessity, since more than JUST six party members are available as gifts.)
... Though it's likely that no actual content will come out of me until after Christmas, what with my final two (holy shit next semester is my last semester) semesters at uni.
I'm actually passing a math class.
It literally just occurred to me today that 1. I'm probably a semester away from graduating university and I don't know what to do after school and 2. I'm passing a college/uni-level math class on my first try for the first time in my life.
Hell, I'm passing ANY math class on my first try for the first time SINCE MIDDLE SCHOOL.
What the fuck is happening.
Writing Progress
HI YES I ACTUALLY FUCKING MANAGED TO ACTUALLY SERIOUSLY WRITE
Okay, a little context. I'm still chipping away at my ancient Nutcracker adaptation that actually has conflict in the second act-thingy. I had four chapters before I realized that I already needed to revise if I wanted to make the story flow the way I wanted it to (I wanted each chapter to alternate between Claire's and Peter's (the Nutcracker Prince) POV.) Now I had about 13 pages (double-spaced) before I needed to revise, and I was finally figuring out how to not have my descriptions be fucking boring or out of nowhere.
... But NOW
I've only revised one chapter and it's alread
Thinking of starting a Nuzlocke?
Well, let me elaborate.
I'm thinking of starting a series of documented self-imposed challenges for a handful of Pokemon games. However, I can't quite decide what kind of self-imposed challenge to take. I'm stuck between a modified variant of the original rules, or a new rule set entirely.
Nuzlocke Lite Rules
Catching Pokemon: Only one Pokemon can be caught per route, but the player may hunt for a specific one. This is only if the player actually uses what they are hunting for. Otherwise, the player must catch the first Pokemon they can on the route, but they are not compelled to use it. Pokemon given as gifts, found as fossils or hatched
